Password Protect Directories
Password Protect Directories allows website owners to protect folders on their site with passwords. This means if someone wishes to access the folder or any of the content inside that folder, they must login with a valid username and password. This is hand for protecting valuable data or even just staging something that will not go live until later. To go even further 040Hosting has integrated the Password Protect Directories in their Web Application Firewall so attempts to intrude the page by means of brute force will automatically block them.
Leech Protect allows website owners to protect content and data from users that give out passwords to the public. Instead of many visits from a compromised account, the visitor will be redirected to a URL of your choice.
IP Deny Manager
IP Deny Manager allows website owners to block a single or range of IP addresses. This feature also allows you block a fully qualified domain name if the server can resolve the IP. This allows website owners to block specific IPs that may be causing abuse.
HotLink Protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files (as specified below) on a website. Other sites will still be able to link to any file type that a website owner doesn’t specify (i.e., HTML files). An example of hotlinking would be using an tag to display an image from a site somewhere else on the Web. The end result is that the other site is stealing bandwidth. The interface does allow a website owner to list sites from which they wish to allow direct links.
Subdomains give the website owner the ability to create, manage, and remove subdomains. Subdomains are URL address for different parts of a website. An example of this would be a site named sample.tld having a subdomain of a.sample.tld that goes to a different directory or location. The amount of subdomains you can setup depends on the hosting package purchased.
Addon Domains allow a website owner to host a completely different website under their account. This would let the owner run a site called sample.tld and a site called default.tld as if they were two completely seperate accounts.
The website owner sets the Addon Domain to exist in a sub section of their home directory
Note that from a security point of view it would still be better to have two hosting packages, using Addon domains will run the sites under the same user account and using the same resources as allocated to this package.
Parked Domains allow website owners to point additional domain names they own to their site. If sample.tld owned test.tld, Parked Domains would allow the owner to point test.tld to sample.tld. All of this can be done with one simple form.
Parked Domains will also allow a website owner to point an Parked Domain to a directory of the main domain. This would mean test.tld could point to the sample.tld/test/ folder.
Redirects allow website owners redirect one web page to another page and display the contents of that page. This is ideal pages that have long URLs and a website owner wishes to create a redirect from a shorter link.
A website owner can create modify and remove Redirects through a simple interface and with little or no knowledge of Domain Name System (DNS).
Simple DNS Zone Editor
The Simple DNS Zone Editor allows website owners to create and manage A records and CNAMEs for their website. The Domain Name System (DNS) is the service that takes a name, such as sample.tld, and then turns it into an IP, like 127.0.0.1. The best analogy for DNS is a phone book: where with a name, a phone number can be obtained.
A Records are a name that turns into a number. CNAMEs are a name that turns into another name, the client will then continue on the path with the new name.
On request we can also add the Advanced DNS Zone Editor which gives you almost full control over your DNS records, of course you can always ask our support to assist you, if in doubt do not make changes to DNS but ask our professional team for assistance.
